At the Beginning
Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, both came from rather strict and conservative backgrounds. The music they produce was a total no to listen to. However, this did not stop them from sneaking in CD’s of their preferred music. With little interest in studies and more heart into music, their parents finally came to terms with what they loved. Tyler invested most of his money into buying equipments and self tutoring himself in his basement. He then joined hands with Thomas and Salih and formed a band which they called, Twenty One Pilots.
This name was inspired from a play by Arthur Miller. It was a play about a man who sells faulty parts to air forces in order to get their planes crashed, this plot was reiterated by Tyler in one of his interviews when he said that at one point or the other in life there is always a decision one would need to make, however hard it is to make the right one, one wouldn’t take the easy way out. They started out small and as a fact, the ticketing was so low that Tyler’s mum used to lure people in. Later, they recorded an album in their basement and experienced a major snag because Salih and Thomas left. He was later joined by a drummer known as Josh Dun. Their duo created “Regional At Best” that gained equal attention as the first. This too shook the American Music world to its core. They seemed to attract a lot of attention and thus many wanted to join in hands with them for their next album. They labeled their next album with “Fueled by Ramen” and fired the popularity with margins beyond their expectations. With such strong foundation, their future seemed ever so bright.
Twenty One Pilots Members
The band was originally formed by Tyler Joseph, Nick Thomas and Chris Salih who are the true representative of Twenty One Pilots history as they were the band’s founders. Later, due to some commitments down the road Thomas and Salih left the band after recording the first album. They even said their goodbyes to their fans on Facebook.
As fate would have it, Tyler met Josh Dun and both of them then created history in the music world.
Important Moments and Events
Their albums releases were one of the most important moments in their life, a turning point so to speak which was later complemented by the “Holding On To You” which became their fans number one song. This culminated to Twenty One pilots being nominated for many other awards because of this hit song.
Like their different approach to music, they also connected with their fans and gained popularity in the most unique way. They didn’t thrive to become big by approaching big studios but they started from scratch. They made a place in people’s hearts right from the beginning. Their first fans were a few children, and then they stepped it up by performing some shows. At times Tyler’s mum would be outside trying to lure the passersby into buying a ticket for her son’s show. In no time, they had won the hearts of many and had grabbed the attention of many hotshots in the music industry.
They self released their first two albums and then collaborated with “Fueled by Ramen” and released their next two albums. Twenty One Pilots is however a band that likes performing on live shows and events as it reminds them that it is out of their fans love that they grew and became one of the most popular bands in America.
Look at the Future
Since they broke through in the market, they haven’t stopped in their tracks at all and they keep pressing on the hard work pedal, churning great composition while exceeding the expectations of the American market more than ever. Their live shows buzz with massive crowds and their CD’s sell out like hot cake showing that their fan base keeps on growing from one dimension to the other.
